High school wrestler Mack Beggs, competed in the 110 pounds weight class in the Texas girl’s state championship on Saturday and won the championship. The teen, who is only 17 years old, wanted to wrestle in the boys division but the state regulations didn’t let him.
Mack Beggs was born as a girl but is currently transitioning to a boy. According to state regulations, the athletes can only compete in the division stated in their birth certificate and since Mack beggs’ birth certificate listed him as a girl therefore he was told to compete in the girls’ division.
When he was asked to comment on his victory, Mack Beggs said, “I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for my teammates. That’s honestly what the spotlight should’ve been on, my teammates”
